Activity Providers

We are proud to collaborate with a growing network of Activity Providers who deliver high-quality Adventurous Journeys at every level of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award USA.

These organizations help Award Centers and independent Participants complete the Adventurous Journey (AJ) Section by providing expert guidance, safe environments, and unforgettable outdoor experiences.

What Is an Activity Provider?

Activity Providers support participants in meeting the requirements of the Adventurous Journey.

There are two types of providers within our network—Registered and Affiliated—each playing a vital role in helping young people access meaningful outdoor learning experiences.

Registered Activity Providers (RAPs)

Registered Activity Providers (RAPs) are officially licensed partners who are:

  • Trained and approved by Award USA to deliver Adventurous Journeys that meet Award standards.
  • Quality-assured to ensure consistent excellence and participant safety.
  • Granted full use of Award USA branding and logos.
  • RAPs are our preferred partners for Adventurous Journey delivery and play a key role in expanding access to The Award nationwide.

Affiliated Activity Providers (AAPs)

Affiliated Activity Providers (AAPs) are trusted organizations that:

  • Deliver activities or services meeting the Adventurous Journey requirements.
  • Sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Award USA.
  • Complete mandatory Youth Protection and Safeguarding training.

AAPs do not use Award USA branding but are valued collaborators who uphold our standards of safety, inclusivity, and educational impact.

Why Build a Network of Providers?

For many young people, completing the Adventurous Journey can be one of the most challenging parts of The Award—especially when local options are limited.

By developing a nationwide network of Activity Providers, Award USA ensures that every participant has safe, affordable, and accessible opportunities to complete their journey.

Our partners offer a wide range of experiences—from hands-on outdoor skills courses and after-school workshops to camp-style expeditions—all designed to make adventure and personal growth available to everyone.
